All Division of Licensing Regional Offices are currently open to the public. As COVID-19 is still of great concern, we will continue to monitor the situation and take any necessary steps to ensure the safety of our employees and community. Apply in Person

You can apply for a concealed weapon license in person at a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) regional office or an authorized Florida tax collector's office in your area.

How do I make an appointment?

At a Regional Office: To access our online scheduling feature, go to the regional offices main page and select the regional office you would like to visit.

At a Tax Collector's Office: Go to the tax collector offices main page and select the tax collector's office you would like to visit. Contact that office directly to make an appointment.

What do I bring with me?

  • A picture ID. A driver license or state-issued identification card is acceptable.
  • A copy of a training document or other certificate that confirms that you are proficient with a firearm. Learn more about the acceptable forms of training.
  • Your payment. Review licensing fees [ pdf 238.5 kB ] .
    • Regional offices cannot accept cash.
    • Tax collector offices may charge an additional convenience fee of up to $22 for new licenses. Contact your local tax collector to determine the precise amount you will need to pay and which payment methods are accepted.

For changes to your name, please provide a copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree or court documentation.

If you have ever been arrested, you should bring certified copies of the court documentation reflecting the final disposition of the charge(s) filed against you.

If you were born outside the United States, or if you are a permanent legal resident alien, you will need to bring official documentation with you that confirms your citizenship status. Please review eligibility information concerning citizenship requirements.

If you are currently employed as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer with a Florida law enforcement agency and you are applying as such, you will need to provide a copy of an official document stating that you are currently employed with that agency as such.

If you are a retired law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer from a Florida law enforcement agency and you are applying as such, you will need to provide a copy of an official document that includes your date of retirement and the agency from which you retired. This does not extend to federal law enforcement or out-of-state law enforcement retirees.

What happens when I arrive?

  • A staff member will direct you to a computer station where you will complete an online application form. (You do not need to complete an application form prior to your appointment.)
  • Staff will review your application for completeness.
  • Staff will take your photograph and scan your fingerprints.

When you complete your application, you will be asked to swear and affirm that you have been furnished with a copy of Chapter 790, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and that you are knowledgeable of its provisions. Please read and review Chapter 790, F.S., prior to your appointment.

When will I receive my license?

You should be able to complete the entire process of applying for a new license in an hour or less. Your application will then be sent to Tallahassee for processing.

FDACS has 90 days after receipt of a complete application to either issue a license or deny the application.

How do I apply by mail?

  • Schedule an appointment at your local sheriff's office or police department to submit fingerprints.
  • Complete your application and mail it to the address below:

Military Members and Veterans

Florida concealed weapon or firearm license applications submitted by active military members and veterans are now expedited.

Active military personnel who want to apply for a concealed weapon license should include a copy of their Common Access Card or other form of official military identification with their applications. We will also accept a copy of service members' current orders as proof of active duty status.

Honorably discharged veterans should submit a copy of their DD 214 long form with their applications.
